A workshop at the Los Angeles County Arboretum offers tips on gardening in only 20% of the land space of a conventional garden.
“Square foot gardening” also saves both water and time. There is no tilling of the soil so anybody can do it. This method will be fully explained by instructor Jo Ann Carey at the Square Foot Gardening workshop from 9 a.m. – 12 noon on Sunday, April 11 in the Palm Room (also May 16, June 13, July 18, Aug. 22, and Sept, 12), with lessons on setup, planting, watering, growing vertically, pest control and harvesting.
Nothing compares to the flavor of food that is grown in healthy soil, without pesticides, and allowed to grow until just the right time for harvesting. The workshop was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times.
