2024 Los Angeles Lantern Expo to be held at Santa Anita Park

The Planning Division received a Temporary Use Permit application from Apex World Culture & Art Expo, a non-profit organization, to hold the first “Los Angeles Lantern Expo” at Santa Anita Park. Their mission is to promote cultural exchange and appreciation through a diverse range of activities and events, which will help bring people together and foster mutual understanding and respect among different communities. This year’s theme is the “Chang’an Lantern Festival” chosen to celebrate their 45th anniversary of the U.S. and China’s relations and bringing this festival to the U.S. for the first time will help share this rich tradition with a wider audience. The organizers also plan to incorporate elements of Halloween into their expo bringing the two traditions together.

The expo will have over 300 booths selling merchandise, food, beverages, or other cultural heritage products, and will include cultural performances, as shown on the site plan below. This will be their first time hosting the Los Angeles Lantern Expo in Arcadia at the Santa Anita Park south parking lot, approximately 200 feet north of W. Huntington Drive. The event will run from mid-October through mid-November (October 18-20, 25-27, 30, 31 and November 1-3, 8-10, 15-17, 2024) and will be held each of these days from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The

Applicant intends to limit the number of attendees to 9,500 people per day and tickets can only be purchased online.
