On Saturday, September 12, the City of Arcadia hosted its annual City-Wide Health Fair at the Arcadia Community Center. The event brought together healthcare providers, community partners, and the public for a morning dedicated to health and wellness. More than 800 individuals participated in free health screenings, doctor consultations, flu vaccines, and medical information booths, making this year’s Health Fair incredibly successful. On Friday, September 11, 153 individuals gathered for the annual Western Hoedown. Instructor Pam Wagoner emceed the night filling the room with energy and fun. Pam called the line dances while giving instruction to those still learning moves. Guests enjoyed a western themed meal and dessert. A great time was had by all.

The City has received a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) application for the return of Enchant Christmas at Santa Anita Park for the 2026 holiday season. This year’s event will be similar to the 2025 event, with modifications to attendance, attractions, hours, parking, and operations. The event is proposed from November 18, 2026, through January 3, 2027. This year, the maximum daily attendance will be reduced from 19,500 to 16,000 attendees. West Nile Virus Detection: The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (SGV Mosquito) confirmed its first detection of West Nile Virus in the city of Arcadia this year. The sample was collected on 8/18/2026 from a trap site near Baldwin Stocker Park. WNV is transmitted to people and animals through the bite of an infected mosquito. There is no cure for WNV. On Thursday, August 20, 27 seniors participated in the monthly Taste the Town excursion, a popular program that invites guests to experience some of Arcadia’s vibrant local dining. This month, the group visited New Full House Seafood Restaurant and enjoyed a traditional dim sum experience.

On August 4, we provided formal notice for the proposed removal of 34 oak trees associated with the LA28 Cross Country Course at Santa Anita Park. This was after several focus groups and community meetings since May designed to ensure that the neighbors and those most affected would have time to provide input and get their questions answered. The annual free HHW drive-thru collection event hosted by Los Angeles County will be held on August 1, 9AM to 3PM, at Santa Anita Park, near Gate 3 (the main entrance on Huntington Dr.). ARCADIA, CA - The City of Arcadia proudly announces the 2026 free Summer Concerts & Movies in the Park every Thursday from June 25 through July 30, 2026. Concerts will begin at 6:30pm and movies at dusk. Kids can enjoy the fun zone area with plenty of games, crafts, and activities. Arcadia received word last week that we had been randomly selected to serve as a survey site community for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). For more than 60 years, the NHANES program (www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes) has worked to monitor trends in health, health behaviors, diseases, environmental exposures, and nutrition across the United States. NHANES plans to conduct its survey in Arcadia in 2027 at a location to be determined over the next few month

The Arcadia High School Band has been given the honor of marching in the 250th Independence Day Parade in Washington, to ensure the band is fully prepared for this national event, rehearsals must continue at an even higher level. The District has requested the temporary closure of Campus Dr. from El Monte Ave. to Santa Anita Ave. during scheduled rehearsal times. As part of a larger rehabilitation project, LA County Public Works will be dredging Baldwin Lake at the Arboretum, from September to December 2026. This is intended to aesthetically restore the lake but will also provide better stormwater capture and help water usage at the facility.
