Fire Department Weekly Report -weekof October 22 – 28, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of October 22 – 28, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this

time period:

Sunday, October 22

At 9:26 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the

100 block of Fano Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 46-year-old male who

was suffering from a non-traumatic nosebleed. The patient received advanced life support

including bandaging, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and blood glucose monitoring. The

patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, October 23

At 12:20 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in

the 100 block of Lemon Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 79-year-old

female who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life

support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access with pain medication,

and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for

further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, October 24

At 9:36 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a vegetation fire in the 200 block of Duarte Road.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found a resident burning flower beds, attempting to remove

the weeds and increase minerals in the soil. Fire personnel extinguished all the hot spots

with water and educated the occupants of the no burning ordinance in our city.

Wednesday, October 25

At 2:54 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in

the 500 block of Arbolada Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 57-year-old male

who was suffering an altered level of consciousness from hypoglycemia. The patient

received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access

with medication, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC

Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, October 26

At 8:26 p.m., Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded with Los

Angeles County Fire Department units to a reported structure fire near the 400 block of

Raymond Drive in Pasadena. Upon arrival, fire personnel reported smoke and fire

showing from a single-story residential structure. Battalion 105 was assigned to Safety

Officer and performed a risk analysis of the structure and firefighting operations. Arcadia

Fire Department (AFD) crews ascended to the roof and coordinated vertical ventilation

and overhaul with interior fire crews. AFD units were released from the incident, and this

fire remains under investigation.

Friday, October 27

At 11:54 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident

in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 77-year-

old female with a chief complaint of head pain from an assault. Fire personnel performed

a full trauma evaluation which included a complete set of vital signs, secondary

assessment, electrocardiogram, and established intravenous access. Paramedics

determined the patient met trauma criteria and was transported to Huntington Health for

further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, October 28

At 3:22 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in

the 1000 block of South Sixth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 70-year-old

male exhibiting stroke-like symptoms. Paramedics obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram,

blood glucose check, intravenous access, performed a series of stroke tests, and

identified the patient met the criteria. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital

for further evaluation and treatment.
