Westfield charity drive

Westfield Santa Anita‘s annual sales event to support local charities, Westfield Works Wonders, will be held from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19.

Attendees who come to participate in special one-night only discounts from retailers, a life-size story of “The Polar Express” for kids showcased on the south end of The Promenade, an hourly snow spectacular at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., and a visit by Santa, will be invited to vote for one of three select charities to receive cash donations of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000: Arcadia Chinese Association, Arcadia Educational Foundation and Foothill Family Service. The first 500 shoppers to cast their vote starting at 4 p.m. get a free In-and-Out meal at the cookout trailer. The charities will be on hand during the festivities to provide information and answer questions.

Actor Freddie Stroma from the new “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” movie (Cormac McLaggen) will also be on hand to meet attendees at 6 p.m.

“We invite the community to join us for this fantastic way to kick off the holiday season,” said Amanda Glover, marketing director for the shopping center. “It’s a great opportunity to have fun with family and friends and learn more about three charitable organizations, each of which will share in a $10,000 donation from Westfield Santa Anita.”
