Sunday, January 29th
At 5:36 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, and Battalion 105, along with units from the Pasadena Fire Department responded near the intersection of Sierra Madre Boulevard and New York Drive in the city of Pasadena on a reported brush fire. Pasadena units were first to arrive on scene and observed a golf cart on fire. Pasadena fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and cancelled all assisting units.
Monday, January 30th
At 3:26 p.m., Rescue Ambulance 106 and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to the 00 block of East Woodruff Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly female experiencing right hip pain with a possible dislocation after a mechanical fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and pain management. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, January 31st
At 6:58 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Pasadena Engine 37, Truck 105, Pasadena Truck 32, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to the 200 block of Arbolada Drive on an appliance fire. Fire crews arrived on scene and did not observe smoke or fire. Fire personnel determined there was no fire but a malfunctioning oven. The homeowner was advised to have the oven professionally repaired.
Wednesday, February 1st
At 9:12 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 2100 block of South Fifth Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly female experiencing blunt head and neck pain after a mechanical fall the previous night. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene and transported the patient to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, February 2nd
At 1:20 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 1100 block of South Baldwin Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 69-year-old male experiencing a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy and medication. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, February 3rd
At 10:25 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 106 and units from the San Gabriel Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Milton Avenue in the city of San Gabriel on a residential fire. Arcadia paramedics were assigned to a medical group providing advanced life support, if necessary, and remained on scene until the fire was extinguished.
Saturday, February 4th
At 3:35 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the intersection of West Huntington Drive and La Cadena Avenue on a traffic incident involving a pedestrian. Fire crews arrived on scene and found a 35-year-old male with a traumatic head injury after jumping out of a moving vehicle. Paramedics stabilized the patient and performed advanced life support measures, including cardiac monitoring and intravenous fluid challenge, while transporting the patient to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Arcadia Police also responded and remained on scene for investigation.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 425 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 104 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
