The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 26, 2017 to April 1, 2017. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, March 26th
At 4:53 a.m., Engine 107, Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 105, and the Monrovia Fire Department responded to the 600 block of Monterey Avenue in the City of Monrovia on a residential fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel found one room involved with extension into the attic to the rear unit of a duplex. Fire crews immediately began fire attack and were able to contain the fire, protecting surrounding structures from damage. Displaced residents were assisted by the American Red Cross.
Monday, March 27th
At 8:42 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 200 block of West Huntington Drive on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 27-year-old female complaining of a severe behavioral issue. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, glucose testing, and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, March 28th
At 2:53 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 200 block of Hillgreen Place on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly person experiencing weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, March 29th
At 12:28 p.m., Truck 105 responded to the 400 block of West Fairview Avenue on a person trapped in a bathroom. Fire crews arrived on scene and found a female occupant trapped inside a residential bathroom after attempting to repair a faulty door knob. Fire personnel instructed the occupant on how to re-engage the door knob; subsequently, the resident was able to free herself.
Thursday, March 30th
At 7:58 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 100 block of West Huntington Drive on a smell of smoke inside a structure. Fire crews arrived on scene and observed the occupants evacuating but no visible smoke. Upon entry, fire personnel noticed an odor of burnt food; however, all the occupants denied anyone had been cooking. Further investigation did not locate the source of the smoke nor odor. The smell of smoke had dissipated prior to fire units leaving the scene.
Friday, March 31st
At 3:44 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, Truck 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the intersection of West Huntington Drive and South Golden West Avenue on a traffic collision. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single vehicle traffic accident with a vehicle overturned. The 20-year-old male driver had self-extricated prior to fire department arrival. The patient refused any medical care and declined transport to a local hospital.
Saturday, April 1st
At 5:20 a.m., Engine 107 and Engine 105 responded to the eastbound 210 freeway at Michillinda Avenue on a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found a disabled vehicle in the carpool lane. Fire personnel assessed the vehicle and determined the smoke was caused by an overheated motor with an oil leak. Fire crews opened the vehicle’s hood to allow the smoke to ventilate and applied absorbent to the motor oil spilling onto the ground. The scene was released to the California Highway Patrol.
