Sunday, January 8th
At 9:07 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106 and Battalion 105 were dispatched to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue on a traffic collision. Engine 107 arrived on scene and found an overturned vehicle with all three occupants self- extricated. Paramedics assessed the occupants and none required further treatment. A tow company arrived and up righted the vehicle. The scene was released to the Arcadia Police Department.
Monday, January 9th
At 9:12 a.m., Engine 106 responded to the 700 block of Fairview Avenue on a flooded condition call. Upon arrival, fire personal inspected the location and found a sump pump had stopped working and water was backing up, threatening six units with imminent flooding. Fire crews quickly deployed a sump pump carried on the fire engine and retrieved an additional water pump from the fire station. The excess water was removed and flooding diverted from the structure.
Tuesday, January 10th
At 11:14 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 200 block of West Huntington Drive on a medical call. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 70-year-old male patient who had experienced a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, January 11th
At 8:38 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Monrovia Engine 101, Truck 105, Monrovia Truck 101, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 200 block of East Foothill Boulevard on a report of smoke inside of a structure. Fire crews arrived on scene and were met by the business manager who stated he smelled smoke in a breakroom. Investigation found the source of the odor to be a portable heater. The heating unit was unplugged and all units cleared the scene.
Thursday, January 12th
❖ At 11:13 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 1100 block of South Baldwin Avenue on a medical call. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 58-year-old male sitting on the ground experiencing head pain. Paramedics assessed the patient and provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring and glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, January 13th
At 11:53 a.m., Engine 105, Monrovia Engine 101, Monrovia Engine 102, Truck 105, Monrovia Truck 101, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 00 block of East Huntington Drive on a report of smoke inside of the structure. Fire crews arrived on scene and determined the smoke was actually dust from a HVAC unit. All units were cancelled and the business owner was advised to have a technician inspect the HVAC unit.
Saturday, January 14th
At 6:28 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 600 block of West Duarte Road on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 93-year-old female experiencing shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support measures at the scene including oxygen therapy, heart monitoring, and medication. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 104 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 348 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
