Sunday, September 25th
At 9:16 a.m., Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to a flooded condition in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found significant flooding to a high rise building and requested additional assistance. Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion Chief 105 responded to assist. Fire personnel shut down water supply to the building, performed water evacuation, and initiated salvage operations. The scene was turned over to building representatives.
Monday, September 26th
At 3:56 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105, along with units from Monrovia, Pasadena and Los Angeles County Fire Departments responded to a reported structure fire in the city of Monrovia. Fire crews arrived to find two residential units well involved with fire and spreading to a third residence. Fire crews attacked the fire, ventilated the structure, and conducted search and rescue operations. A Monrovia firefighter was treated for minor injuries and transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, September 27th
At 2:42 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived to find a 63-year-old male complaining of abdominal pain. Paramedics provided advance life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, September 28th
At 2:07 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of Alice Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 77-year-old male suffering from severe abdominal pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support at the scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, September 29th
At 7:51 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to an auto versus bicycle traffic collision at the intersection of West Duarte Road and South Second Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 76-year-old male bicyclist complaining of leg and wrist pain and a vehicle that had collided into a building. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. The bicyclist was provided with advanced life support measures on scene including full spinal immobilization, intravenous access, 12- lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The City of Arcadia Building Inspection Department employees responded to assess the damage.
Friday, September 30th
At 3:11 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of South Baldwin Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 65-year-old male complaining of right flank pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures at the scene including full spinal immobilization, oxygen therapy, and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, October 1st
At 7:13 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a multi-vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of North Second Avenue and East Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found several patients with various minor injuries. Patients were evaluated using basic life supporting measures including obtaining vital signs, and performing primary and secondary assessments. All involved parties refused further treatment and transport. The scene was released to the Arcadia Police Department.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 32 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 358 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
