The Arcadia Police Department responded to 797 calls for service from Sunday, April 3 through Saturday, April 9, of which 10 required formal investigations. Here is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the officers of the Arcadia Police Department during this period. (Listed in crime categories created by Arcadia’s Best).

Elderly man hanging from third floor balcony At 2:58 a.m. Monday, April 4, officers responded to a medical assist call in the 600 block of Sunset where an elderly male was hanging on from a third story balcony. The subject was pulled up to safety and transported to AMH for treatment of some lacerations to the knees and elbows, as well as a psychiatric evaluation. . Residential burglaries/theft * Between 2 p.m. April 5th and 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 6th, a residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Altern Ave. Unknown suspect(s) entered the location while it was tented for fumigation. The victim reported a digital camera and miscellaneous currency missing from the location. * Shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, an unknown female Hispanic was seen taking a package from the porch of a residence in the 00 block of Golden West Ave. She then entered an awaiting, ‘El Camino’ type, black vehicle with an unknown Hispanic male driver and fled southbound on Golden West Ave.
Business theft, burglary, grand theft, vandalism * Around 10:20 a.m. Monday, April 4, three power handsaws were taken from the back of a pick-up truck at a construction site in the 00 block of Las Flores. A male Hispanic was reported being seen taking the tools and leaving in a white Ford Ranger. * About 7:47 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, officers responded to a possible burglary in progress at the Metro PCS store, 411 E. Huntington, where a young black male was seen smashing the window of the business. The 15 year old male juvenile was detained and arrested for commercial burglary, eight mobile phones were recovered. * Around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, three black females, ages 20-25, fled the Victoria’s Secret store, 400 S. Baldwin, with stolen merchandise. They left behind a fourth black female age 27, who was arrested for Commercial burglary. The total loss was approximately $597. * Just after 4:20 a.m. Friday, April 8, an unknown male kicked in several secured doors at the Arcadia Center Pharmacy, 631 W. Duarte Rd., where he stole several bottles of Hydrocodone. * Shortly after 5 p.m., Friday, April 8, officers responded to Tuesday Morning located at 1227 S. Baldwin Ave. regarding a theft in progress. A 44 year old, black male wearing a white button down shirt had taken approximately $1,000 worth of property and was driving a gray Honda eastbound on Naomi. A traffic stop was conducted at the promenade parking structure where the suspect was placed under arrest. The property was recovered as well as a pair of wire cutters.
Stolen car/auto burglary * Between 6:40 p.m. on April 6th and 6:20 a.m. on Thursday April 7th, an auto burglary occurred in the 300 block of Huntington. Unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle (no signs of forced entry) and stole a laptop computer and an iPod Touch for a reported loss of about $1,000.
Alcohol/drugs * A traffic stop was conducted around 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Christina St. and Santa Anita Ave., where a 22 year old male (unknown race) was reported as leaving the track intoxicated, was placed under arrest for DUI. * A traffic stop conducted at Colorado Blvd. and Second Ave. on Thursday, April 7, for failure to display a valid year tag, led to the arrest of a 50 year old white male for a warrant, possession of illegal fireworks and marijuana. The passenger, a 42 year old Hispanic male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. * Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, a traffic stop conducted at the intersection of Baldwin and Arcadia on a vehicle where a 25 year old, male driver was talking on his cell phone while driving, led to his arrest for DUI. * At approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, a non-injury traffic accident was reported in the 100 block of Huntington Dr., where one driver had fled the scene. The 43 year old female was located two blocks away and the investigation revealed the driver was DUI and placed under arrest.
Outstanding Warrant * At 1:14 p.m. Sunday, April 3, a traffic stop at Colorado and Baldwin for an expired registration, led to the arrest of a 33 year old, black female driver for a $30,000 outstanding warrant.
Assist with neighboring department * At 8:20 p.m. Sunday, April 3, officers responded to assist Monrovia PD in regards to a barricaded suspect call in the 600 block of Shady Oaks Dr. Our officers were relieved by additional Monrovia PD units on Monday morning.
