Library Mockingbird tribute

The Arcadia Public Library invites you to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird.

Read or re-read the book and click the following to take the To Kill A Mockingbird quiz (you may also find the quiz at any of the Arcadia Public Library’s Public Service desks).

Turn in your completed quiz by Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, and be entered into a drawing. The drawing will be held on September 29, 2010 prior to the screening of the Academy Award-winning movie at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29. The five winners need not be present to win. Bring your dinner, dessert will be provided! Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the drawing for the quiz will be held at 6 p.m. The movie is 2 hours, 10 minutes long and not rated.

For more details, call 821-5570.

In a separate related program that is not part of the Library’s celebration, now that you have read To Kill a Mockingbird and seen the movie, Arcadia’s Best invites you to join fellow Arcadians to discuss the book at Arcadia’s first “One Community, One Book” program on Oct. 22.

You may also enter a Creative Interpretation Contest about the book — write an essay or poem, create a drawing, painting, video or PowerPoint, or even a dramatic interpretation or song.

All entries will be displayed and winners announced at the “One Community, One Book” program at the Masonic Center on Oct. 22. Find out more about the Arcadia’s Best “One Community, One Book” and Creative Interpretation Contest here.
