Last call: Student contest

Only a few days left before the deadline at 4 p.m. Friday, April 23, for students K-12 to turn in any kind of artwork they choose to showcase Arcadia’s history for the second annual “History Lives Here” Student Creative Expression Contest sponsored by the Arcadia Historical Society.

Multiple winners in three categories (Elementary, Middle School, High School). Art can be any kind of painting, drawing, creative writing, poetry, photography, Powerpoint, video, and even performance. (Entry forms and instructions available at school offices and the Society office at the Arcadia Historical Museum.)

Winners will be presented their cash awards at a special presentation at the Adams’ Pack Station in the Chantry Flat area of the Angeles National Forest at 1:30 p.m. on May 16. (A 40-passenger shuttle bus will will be available for attendees at the Community Center.) Artwork will be on display in the forest, along with activities including burro petting.

All entries will be exhibited at the Ruth and Charles Gilb Arcadia Historical Museum from July 17 – Aug. 14, with a reception honoring the artists on July 24.
