On March 11, 2026, at approximately 4:52 PM, the Arcadia Police Department responded to The Shops at Santa Anita after receiving a call from an individual who reported himself in possession of a firearm and making active threats to a patron.

Officers arrived on scene and, out of an abundance of caution, initiated a temporary lockdown of the mall while conducting a systematic search of the property. Police personnel cleared the facility during the investigation. No suspects were located, and no injuries were reported.
Preliminary investigation indicates the reported threat was most likely a hoax. The lockdown has since been lifted, and normal business operations have resumed at the mall.
The Arcadia Police Department appreciates the cooperation of the public and mall staff during the incident.
