Immigrating from Taiwan in 1979, Chen Suen graduated from Arcadia High School and went on to earn several degrees from Loyola Law School, UC Irvine, and Santa Ana College. Chen married his wife Sandia, also an Arcadia native, and they are raising their three children, Ethan age sixteen, Emma age seven, and Ethan age four months, in Arcadia, a community they have long called home. Chen's career in the fire service spans over 19 years, promoting through each rank of firefighter, paramedic, engineer, captain, battalion chief, deputy chief, and now fire chief. One of his most notable roles in his career was leading the COVID19 response as the emergency manager for the city during the pandemic.
