Inaugural Carcadia @Route 66 dazzles

The owners of about 15 cool cars met at the inaugural Carcadia @Route 66 Saturday morning, Dec. 14, to discuss and admire each other’s rides.

The 90-minute gathering presented by the non-profit Arcadia’s Best Foundation and Glenn Oyoung’s turn3 Creative took place in the parking lot behind Denny’s on Huntington Drive (the original Route 66), which offered participants coffee and breakfast at 15% off. The enthusiastic turnout of car lovers who got together in an informal setting to simply hang out and discuss whatever kind of vehicle they own with pride, was sparked almost soley by word of mouth and inspired organizers to plan a similar get-together each month.

The next Carcadia @Route 66 will likely be set up for a Saturday morning in January at 7:30 a.m. Among the vehicles that rolled up Saturday were two GT-Rs, a Scion FR-S, Nissan 240SX, a Ford Raptor truck, a Lotus Elise, a classic Corvette, Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, and a Chrysler Imperial belonging to Rob Post, who is also brought his Post Alarm System‘s famous classic ambulance from Monrovia.

Belle n’ Beau photography studio owner Raymond Elgin was there with his Cobra Shelby GT 500 Mustang, and others came with a Lotus turn3 Creative’s Glenn Oyoung. The gathering is free for those who want to bring their cars or just enjoy the vehicles of others. The parking lot behind Denny’s is most easily accessible from Santa Anita Avenue north of Huntington Drive and south of Wheeler Avenue.
