RESIDENT COMPLAINS ABOUT MISSING SOUNDWALL SECTION

The City has received many emails over the past two weeks from City resident Jeannie Chen
regarding a “missing” section of

soundwalls on the south side of the
210 Freeway, where the Metro A Line
bridge crosses over. Metro has
responded to the resident on
multiple occasions, stating that the
section was not forgotten; rather,
that area, when studied in 2017 as
part of the study that led to the
recent soundwall installation, did not
have sufficient sound issues to
warrant a soundwall addition.
Basically, the cost to install wouldn’t
be worth it for that section. The
resident is seeking City and Metro
support for adding the soundwall in the future. Metro has said there is no funding currently
available to add another soundwall in Arcadia and that they have many other backlogged projects they are pursuing even if the wall would be warranted. They have also said that the City could directly fund additional soundwalls if desired (City Manager is not sure why Arcadia would wants to take on that expense if the wall wouldn’t help anyway). The resident has set up a meeting with Metro on Monday to further discuss this situation; City Manager presume that the resident may reach out to Council Members for assistance at some point. There is nothing for the City Councils to do as now.
