Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report Nov. 2 – Nov. 8, 2014

Calls for Service / Formal Investigations 952 / 121 Total Year to Date for 2014 45,867 / 5,501

For the period of Sunday, November 2nd, through Saturday, November 8th, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 952 calls for service of which 121 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, November 2:

  1. Just before 12:00 p.m., an officer responded to a robbery in progress in the area of Second Avenue and Bonita Street. The officer determined the victim, a 19-year-old Hispanic male, and suspect, a 21-year-old male, are acquaintances and have fought on previous occasions. During this altercation, the suspect retaliated by assaulting the victim and stealing his marijuana. A records check revealed the victim had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Both men were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim did not need medical attention.

  2. At approximately 11:24 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s window between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. No loss was reported at the time of the report.

Monday, November 3:

  1. At about 1:58 a.m., an officer responded to Knockouts Gentlemen’s Club, 1580 Clark Street, regarding a battery report. The officer discovered the victim was attacked from behind by a coworker while she was walking to her car. Review of surveillance footage identified the suspect as a 22-year-old Hispanic female. Arcadia Fire responded to the scene to evaluate the 38-year-old female victim. The suspect is outstanding at the time of this report.

  2. At approximately 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Monte Vista Road regarding a possible burglary. An investigation revealed three males, ages 19, 20, and 21, attempted to burglarize two residences before ultimately being arrested. The first residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Altura Terrace.

Tuesday, November 4:

  1. Around 12:02 a.m., an officer responded to Ready Pawn, 42 East Live Oak Avenue regarding a commercial burglary. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) cut a hole in the roof to break into the location. Once inside, the suspect(s) unsuccessfully tried to pry open the safe. No witnesses were located and the suspects were not seen. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Just after 8:13 a.m., officers responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 31-year-old male, attacked his coworker in the parking lot over a workplace dispute. The suspect was outstanding at the time of the report.

Wednesday, November 5:

  1. Shortly after 12:16 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street for a broken tail light. The officer discovered the driver was never issued a license. The 26-year-old male was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

  2. At about 8:10 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) acquired the account information to five $100.00 gift cards belonging to the victim and made purchases without her permission. The gift cards were in their original packaging at the time the victim discovered the theft.

Thursday, November 6:

  1. At approximately 2:05 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Duarte Road and Santa Anita Avenue for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol emitting from inside the vehicle. An investigation revealed the driver, a 26-year-old male, had a blood alcohol content greater than .08%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Around 5:49 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Alster Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed two unidentified Black males entered the home through an unlocked bedroom window, stole a safe, and fled in a black vehicle. Both suspects are described as 18 to 24-years-old, medium build, with short black hair. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, November 7:

  1. Just after 1:51 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Peck Road and Clark Street for not having a front license plate. An investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen out of West Covina and the passenger, a 38-year-old female, was in possession of stolen property. The driver, a 33-year-old male, and passenger were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At about 8:00 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Forest Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) removed the screen and broke a bedroom window but no loss was reported at the time of the report. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Saturday, November 8:

  1. Just after 9:23 a.m., officers responded to McDonald’s, 143 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a fight in progress. As officers attempted to arrest the 28-year-old male suspect, he resisted and attempted to flee. Officers ultimately arrested him and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At approximately 11:10 a.m., officers responded to Dave and Buster’s at the Westgfield Santa Anita mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a report of lewd acts with a child. An investigation revealed an unidentified Asian male, approximately 20 to 29-years-old, touched a 10-year-old boy’s buttocks while in the men’s restroom. This suspect is believed to be the 31-year-old male arrested on November 11th for a similar incident that occurred at the same location.
