Greek Festival Sept. 17-19

Santa Anita Park will host the annual Pasadena Greek Festival over a three-day period, Sept. 17, 18 and 19, with authentic Greek food, live music, dancing, an expanded children’s fun zone, arts and crafts, and a raffle with more than $10,000 in prizes offered.

The event, which serves as Pasadena-based St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church’s annual fundraiser, is expected to attract thousands of people, including families from throughout Southern California.

Hours for the festival: * Friday, Sept. 17: 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. * Saturday, Sept. 18: 12 noon – 11 p.m. * Sunday, Sept. 19:  12 noon – 10 p.m.

Admission: $3 for adults; Free for children ages 12 and under.

Those wishing to attend the Greek Festival are encouraged to enter Santa Anita at Gate 3, which is at Holly Ave. and Huntington Dr.

“The Festival makes for a wonderful and affordable weekend, full of great authentic Greek food and fun activities for the whole family,” said John Patzakis, of the Greek Festival promotional committee. “It’s a chance to bring the entire multi-cultural community of Pasadena together to celebrate the Greek culture.” Activities include a raffle offering with more than $10,000 prizes, including: a dream vacation valued at $1,500; a 50” HDTV; $1,000 in cash; two Apple iPods; four Apple Nanos; gift certificates; and additional cash and prizes.
