Free outdoor movies in park

Enjoy free Friday night movies this summer on the expansive lawn between City Hall and the police station at 240 W. Huntington Drive.


CHOICESS Arcadia, an agency dedicated to improving the options for people with developmental disabilities, is partnering with the City of Arcadia’s Recreation and Community Services Department to present the summer series of Movies in the Park at 7:30 p.m. each Friday beginning July 11 with the following schedule:

  1. July 11: Gravity (PG-13) Gravity is a 2013 3D science-fiction thriller and space drama film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

  2. July 18: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (PG) Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is a 2013 American computer-animated comic science fiction comedy film.

  3. July 25: Back to the Future (PG-13) The year is 1985 and Marty McFly is your everyday teenager, except for one problem. He is stuck in 1955.

  4. August 1: Despicable Me 2 (PG) Gru, his adorable girls, and the mischievous Minions are back with a cast of unforgettable new characters in the blockbuster sequel to the worldwide phenomenon. Just as Gru has given up being super-bad to be a super-dad, the Anti-Villain League recruits him to track down a new criminal mastermind and save the world. Partnered with secret agent Lucy Wilde, Gru, along with the wildly unpredictable Minions, must figure out how to keep his cover while also keeping up with his duties as a father. Assemble the Minions for laugh-out-loud comedy in “one of the funniest, most enjoyable movies ever!”

  5. August 8: Captain America (PG-13) During World War II, a brave, patriotic American Soldier undergoes experiments to become a new supersoldier, “Captain America.”

  6. August 15: The Lego Movie (PG) The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.

  7. August 22: E.T. (PG-13) E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 American science fiction film coproduced and directed by Steven Spielberg. It tells the story of Elliott, a lonely boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.”, who is stranded on Earth.
