The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 8 – 14, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for
this period:
Sunday, September 8
At 7:47 p.m., Engine 105 responded to the 5400 block of Peck Road for a reported
outdoor type of fire. Fire personnel arrived to find a large homeless encampment well
involved in fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries occurred during this
incident.
Monday, September 9
At 3:47 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 700 block of
North Santa Anita Avenue for a person feeling weak. Fire personnel arrived to find a 29-
year-old female displaying heat exhaustion symptoms. Paramedics initiated advanced life
support care including oxygen therapy, 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access,
blood glucose testing, and transported the patient to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
treatment.
Tuesday, September 10
At 1:17 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 100 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 22-year-old
male with a chief complaint of neck and back pain after a construction site accident. Fire
personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included an electrocardiogram,
established intravenous access, and spinal immobilization. The patient was transported
to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Wednesday, September 11
At 12:54 p.m., Engine 705 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 80-year-
old female with a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, established intravenous access,
and administered aspirin and nitroglycerin. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia
Hospital for further treatment.
Thursday, September 12
At 3:10 p.m., Engine 705 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in
the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 78-year-
old female who was experiencing shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life
support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access.
The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Friday, September 13
At 9:13 a.m., Engine 105 and Engine 107 responded to the 5500 block of Peck Road for
a reported vegetation fire. Fire personnel arrived to find a vegetation fire and worked
quickly to extinguish the fire. No property damage and no injuries occurred and remains
under investigation.
Saturday, September 14
At 5:35 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, and Battalion 105
responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of South Second Avenue. Upon
investigation, fire personnel found smoke coming from a neighbor’s barbeque and no fire
was on location.
