Fire Department Weekly Report -week of November 19 – 25, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of November 19 – 25, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for

this time period:

Sunday, November 19

At 2:40 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in

the 600 block of Sunset Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 26-year-old male

suffering from an overdose. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which

included a complete set of vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access,

and administered Narcan to counteract the overdose. The patient was transported to USC

Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, November 20

At 12:50 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident

at the intersection of Naomi Avenue and Golden West Avenue. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found a 27-year-old female with a complaint of seizure. Fire personnel

performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram,

intravenous access, blood glucose check, and monitored the patient for further seizure

activity. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and

treatment.

Tuesday, November 21

At 9:04 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in

the 400 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 78-

year-old male who was suffering from head pain after fainting and hitting his head. The

patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous

access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington

Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, November 22

At 8:21 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in

the 100 block of El Dorado Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a six-year-old

male who was suffering from a syncope episode. The patient received advanced life

support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose

monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation

and treatment.

Thursday, November 23

At 7:11 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of smoke in the 300 block of East

Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was an odor of smoke that was coming from a

smoldering log burning in the Los Angeles County Flood Control area. Fire personnel

utilized a pressurized water extinguisher to extinguish the fire. The fire hazard was

contained to the area of origin.

Friday, November 24

At 5:11 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 91 responded to a report of a motor

vehicle versus motorcycle incident at the intersection of Second Avenue and Duarte

Road. Upon arrival, there was a 24-year-old male with a complaint of trauma to his lower

extremities. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation of the patient that included

vitals, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported

to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, November 25

At 9:18 a.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of persons trapped inside an elevator in

the 50 block of East Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a stalled elevator car

with one person inside. Fire personnel gained access to the elevator control room where

the elevator car was manually lowered. Specialized tools were used to open the elevator doors and the occupant was extricated from the elevator without injury or damage. The occupant did not require medical assistance and was released on scene. The elevator

car was placed out-of-service, and the property management company was notified.
