Basic Life Support Ambulance Launch

On March 4, Arcadia Fire Department launched, and placed into service, a new service

program to our community, Basic Life Support (BLS)1 Ambulance.

The purpose of the program will allow rescue ambulances that are advanced life support

(ALS)2 equipped to be available when needed while BLS transport demands continue to

be met.

During the evaluation period, BLS Ambulance will begin reponding with Station 106 units.

Once the department gains a better understanding of call demands after evaluation,

dispatch strategies will be discussed and BLS Ambulance will respond to all BLS calls

independently.
