Fire Department Weekly Report - week of September 10 – 16, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 10 – 16, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, September 10 At 9:35 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 46-year- old male who was suffering from body pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, September 11 At 4:28 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1700 block of Alta Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 66-year-old male who was suffering from abdominal pain and nausea. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, September 12 At 9:05 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 1600 block of Hyland Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an 82-year-old patient with a complaint of back pain and neck pain that was caused by a fall. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, September 13 At 12:34 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of electrical wires down in the 200 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Upon arrival, there were wires laying across the street and blocking the path of travel. Fire personnel mitigated the problem by cutting the wires, moving them away from the street, and making proper notifications. Thursday, September 14 At 6:29 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of victims trapped inside an elevator near the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a stalled elevator car with three occupants inside. Fire personnel gained access to the elevator control room and were able to lower the elevator car by bleeding down the hydraulic fluid in the system. All occupants were able to exit safely without injury. The elevator car was placed out-of-service and the property management company was contacted for repair. Friday, September 15 At 6:13 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian incident at the intersection of Campus Drive and El Monte Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 15-year-old male with a complaint of back trauma after being struck while riding his bike. Fire personnel conducted a full trauma assessment which included an electrocardiogram. Paramedics determined the patient met trauma criteria and transported him to Huntington Health for further evaluation. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and refused any treatment. Saturday, September 16 At 9:03 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 68-year-old male who was suffering from nausea and dizziness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
