Fire Department Weekly Report - week of October 29 – November 4, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of October 29 – November 4, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, October 29 At 12:41 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1200 block of Oakglen Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 80-year-old male suffering from an altered level of consciousness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, October 30 At 8:30 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of smoke in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an odor of smoke coming from an apartment unit. Further investigation showed the smoke resulted from burnt food on a stove. Fire personnel shut off the stove and the hazard was contained to the area of origin. Tuesday, October 31 At 7:57 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 600 block of Lemon Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 15-year-old male with a complaint of facial trauma. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation that included vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, November 1 At 7:43 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 2000 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 63-year- old male with a complaint of shortness of breath. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous therapy, and an albuterol breathing treatment. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, November 2 At 2:29 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 15-year-old male with a complaint of left elbow pain while playing basketball. Fire personnel performed a full evaluation which included a complete set of vital signs, secondary assessment, electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and administered pain medication. Paramedics assessed the patient’s elbow due to deformity and utilized an air splint to immobilize the joint. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, November 3 At 1:09 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 27-year- old female who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, November 4 At 7:26 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 75- year-old male who was suffering from an altered level of consciousness. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
