The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of October 13 – 19, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:
Sunday, October 13
At 4:46 a.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of a carbon monoxide alarm activation in
the 400 block of El Dorado Street. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel utilized a 10-
foot attic ladder to reach an active smoke detector and a 4-gas monitor to confirm that all
atmospheric readings were within normal limits. The occupant was advised to replace the
faulty detector and install additional detectors in all bedrooms for improved home safety.
Monday, October 14
At 6:40 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 100 block of White Oak Drive. Upon arrival, there was one female patient with a
complaint of stroke-like symptoms. Fire suppression personnel performed a full medical
evaluation of the patient which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) and
intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to a comprehensive stroke center for
further treatment.
Tuesday, October 15
At 3:25 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 41 responded to a medical incident in
the 100 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 17-year-
old female displaying difficulty breathing, hives, and audible wheezing resulting from a
food allergy. Fire suppression personnel performed a full medical evaluation of the patient
which included a 12-lead EKG, established intravenous access, and administered
Benadryl. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Wednesday, October 16
At 8:21 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 100 block of East Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 47-
year-old female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire suppression personnel
performed a full medical evaluation of the patient which included a 12-lead EKG, blood
glucose check, intravenous access, and administered oxygen. The patient was
transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Thursday, October 17
At 11:11 a.m., Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and BLS 106 were dispatched to a
medical incident in the 800 block of Hugo Reid Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression
personnel found a 63-year-old male in cardiac arrest and began CPR. The patient
received cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, cardiac medications, and was able to
restore a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The patient was transported to USC
Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Friday, October 18
At 6:42 a.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Monrovia Engine 102 responded
to a report of a three-vehicle traffic collision at west bound 210 Freeway and Santa Anita
Avenue offramp. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel assessed a 32-year-old female
with a complaint of neck and back pain due to multi-system trauma. The patient received
a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous therapy, and was
transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Saturday, October 19
At 2:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of an auto
versus pedestrian incident in the 1100 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire
suppression personnel assessed a 68-year-old female who exhibited signs of multi-
system trauma and an altered mental state due to colliding with the moving vehicle. Thepatient received a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous
therapy, and was transported to Huntington Hospital for further treatment.
