Fire Department Weekly Report - week of May 21 – 27, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of May 21 – 27, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, May 21 At 9:16 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Genoa Street. Firefighters arrived to find one vehicle with two occupants suffering from neck and back pain from a hit-and-run. One patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital and the scene was released to Arcadia Police Department for further investigation. Monday, May 22 At 12:48 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 46- year-old male with a chief complaint of pain and deformity to his right arm from a fall while rock climbing. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included an electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, and administered pain medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, May 23 At 5:44 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving two vehicles. Only one driver stated he was suffering from neck and back pain. The 73-year-old male was evaluated but denied transportation to a local hospital. Wednesday, May 24 At 5:26 p.m., Engine 107 responded to a reported outdoor fire in the area of Lojeski Field near Second Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Firefighters arrived to find a small outdoor fire burning near an outbuilding housing equipment for Los Angeles County Flood Control. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the scene was released to Arson Investigators due to property damage and human activity in the area. Thursday, May 25 At 9:16 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to a reported person shot in the 200 block of Woodruff Avenue. Fire personnel arrived and staged for police personnel to secure the scene. Arcadia Police Department later reported no persons were shot, injured, or in need of medical attention. All fire units cleared the incident while police personnel remained on scene to investigate. Friday, May 26 At 10:02 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to USC Arcadia Hospital for a trauma patient transfer. Firefighters arrived to find a 16-year-old male with one gunshot wound requiring immediate transfer to a trauma center for surgery. The patient was transported to Huntington Health. Saturday, May 27 At 10:44 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a reported traffic collision in the intersection of Michillinda Avenue and Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision with two patients. One patient complained of dizziness and left shoulder pain from the accident. Both patients received a full set of vital signs and a 12-lead electrocardiogram. One patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment, and the other patient refused further treatment and transport. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene to provide traffic control and assist with removal of the vehicles from the roadway.
