Fire Department Weekly Report - week of March 5 – 11, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 5 – 11, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, March 5 At 1:40 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, Truck 105, Engine 107, and Battalion 105 responded to a report of a vehicle collision into a gas main in the 700 block of Arcadia Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one vehicle that ran into the wall of a parking structure and severed a gas main. Fire personnel shut down the gas supply with a protection hose line and hand tools. There were no injuries associated with this incident. Southern California Gas Company was requested, and Arcadia Police Department remained on scene with the responsible party.


Monday, March 6 At 1:21 a.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a reported traffic collision with a person trapped in the 1600 block of South Sixth Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision. The 26- year-old female driver exited the vehicle safely and was assessed and treated by the paramedics. The patient was transported to Huntington Health for further evaluation and treatment.


Tuesday, March 7 At 2:23 a.m., Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to the 300 block of Huntington Drive for a person reported to be trapped inside of an elevator. Fire crews arrived and confirmed one person was trapped, communicated with the female passenger and confirmed she was not suffering from any type of a medical emergency. Firefighters utilized a specialized rescue tool to pick the interior elevator door and the passenger was safely removed from the stalled elevator without harm or further incident.

Wednesday, March 8 At 1:39 p.m., Station 105 personnel were alerted to a still alarm. Fire personnel found a 72-year-old male with a chief complaint of lacerations to his fingers from a lawnmower. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included bandaging the lacerations and an electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, March 9 At 3:26 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 62-year-old male with a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and administration of aspirin and nitroglycerin. Upon the 12-lead electrocardiogram determination by paramedics, the patient required additional medical attention. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, March 10 At 1:31 p.m., Engine 105 and Fire Prevention 105 responded to a report of a hazardous condition in the 5400 block of North Peck Road. Upon arrival, there was paint leaking into the storm drain from an outside paint booth. Fire personnel attempted to use absorbent to dike the paint and stop it from further leaking into the storm drain. Arcadia Public Works Department was called for assistance, and Los Angeles County Health Hazardous Materials Department and Los Angeles County Flood Control were notified of the hazard. Saturday, March 11 At 11:32 a.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to a report of a vehicle into a structure incident at the intersection of South Baldwin Avenue and Longden Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a three-vehicle traffic collision and one vehicle crashed into a large hedge. Fire personnel completed full medical evaluations on four patients while Arcadia Police Department provided scene safety.
