Fire Department Weekly Report -week of March 26 – April 1, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 26 – April 1, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, March 26 At 8:26 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist at 400 South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 57-year-old female who was suffering from head pain. The patient received advanced life support including a 12-lead cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, March 27 At 6:01 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 80-year-old female who was suffering from an altered level of consciousness. The patient received advanced life support including cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, March 28 At 10:46 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 200 block of Huntington Drive. Firefighters arrived to find the individual who had requested the 911 response. Further investigation revealed a language barrier, and the patient was actually requesting a taxi to take him to the hospital for a non-emergency need. Arrangements were made to aid this person who had a non-urgent need. Wednesday, March 29 At 4:34 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 100 block of Forest Avenue for a reported allergic reaction. Firefighters arrived to find a 101-year-old female suffering from an allergic reaction. Paramedics assessed the patient and transported her to USC Arcadia Hospital for follow-up medical care. Thursday, March 30 At 7:45 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 300 block of Diamond Street for a reported outdoor fire. Firefighters arrived to find a transformer burning on a power pole causing a small vegetation fire below the transformer. Firefighters quickly extinguished the vegetation fire, the area was evacuated, and Southern California Edison deenergized the burning transformer. Friday, March 31 At 6:45 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 200 block of West Huntington Drive for a reported fall victim. Firefighters arrived to find a 54-year-old female that had fallen off a horse. The patient suffered blunt force trauma, and paramedics initiated advanced life support including a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous fluids, spinal immobilization, and the patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital.

Saturday, April 1


At 4:39 p.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a traffic accident with extrication needed at the intersection of Second Avenue and Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic accident with one patient unable to exit the vehicle. The patient was extricated, and paramedics found the patient to be complaining of general weakness. The patient was treated and transported to Huntington Health for further treatment and evaluation. Additional three patients were assessed and released to seek care on their own. The incident was released to Arcadia Police Department for investigation.
