Fire Department Weekly Report - week of March 19 – 25, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 19 – 25, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, March 19 At 8:28 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 91, Engine 37, Truck 105, Truck 32, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to the 600 block of Sunset Boulevard for a reported house fire. Further investigation revealed this was a neighborly dispute and no fire or smoke condition existed. All fire units were released, and the scene was left to Arcadia Police Department for further investigation. Monday, March 20 At 5:59 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of North Second Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 41-year-old female with a seizure. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, blood glucose check, and monitored the patient for further seizure activity. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, March 21 At 5:32 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 16-year-old male with a syncopal episode. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and blood glucose check. The patient refused any further treatment or transport. Wednesday, March 22 At 5:17 p.m., Engine 107 and Truck 105 responded to the 1600 block of Alta Oaks Drive for a reported animal rescue. Firefighters arrived to find a kitten stuck behind kitchen cabinets for hours and unable to free itself. Firefighters were able to free the kitten without injury. Thursday, March 23 At 11:15 p.m., Engine 105 responded to the 600 block of Live Oak Avenue for a reported outdoor fire. Firefighters arrived to find an uncontained and unattended warming fire. The fire was extinguished, and no property damage occurred. Friday, March 24 At 6:25 p.m., Engine 107 was dispatched to a reported vault fire in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Firefighters arrived and found an exterior above-ground electrical vault burning. The area was evacuated due to the explosion potential of the burning electrical vault. This vault fire caused a widespread power outage, and additional resources were requested. Additional units ensured all victims were cleared from elevators, attended to two patients with medical aid needs, and evacuated the facility. Saturday, March 25 At 8:53 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported rollover traffic collision with a person trapped. Firefighters arrived and found a two-vehicle traffic collision with multiple occupants. Firefighters were able to quickly free the trapped person by hand. Additional resources assisted with medical evaluation of the three occupants. No persons were transported, and the scene was released to Arcadia Police Department for investigation.
