Fire Department Weekly Report -week of June 11 – 17, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 11 – 17, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, June 11 At 3:28 a.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 400 block of East Valley Boulevard in the City of San Gabriel for a structure fire. The structure involved was a wood-framed, four-story structure in the framing stage. Firefighters held this fire to the building of origin and the cause remains under investigation.

Monday, June 12 At 7:03 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1600 block of South Eighth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 60-year- old male who was suffering from hypoglycemia. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, medication, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, June 13 At 6:35 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 2100 block of Highland Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 83-year- old female who was suffering from pain after multiple bee stings. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, ice packs, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, June 14 At 6:12 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 16-year- old female with a chief complaint of pain and deformity to her right knee from a fall while rock climbing. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a complete set of vital signs, an electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, and administered pain medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, June 15 At 4:16 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the 400 block of West Duarte Road for a hazardous condition. Upon arrival, fire personnel contacted the reporting party who stated the gas stove was left on inside the apartment and the room was filled with natural gas. Fire personnel utilized the multi-gas detector to confirm the natural gas concentration. The occupant was moved outside the apartment and an additional fire unit was requested for positive pressure ventilation. Fire personnel confirmed the gas was shut off and no other gas leaks were found. An electric blower was utilized to remove the natural gas from inside the structure. Once the apartment was ventilated, fire personnel found no abnormal readings on the multi-gas detector.

Friday, June 16 At 12:04 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found one vehicle fire and multiple additional fires in the neighborhood. The fires were set within structures and three vehicles were burned. Due to the suspicious nature, Arson Investigators were called. The fires were all held to the area of origin and Arson Investigators quickly apprehended the arsonist. The investigation continues and the suspect remains in custody.



Saturday, June 17 At 12:05 a.m., Truck 105 responded to the 5400 block of Peck Road. Firefighters arrived to find a person that wanted to get their vehicle out of a locked parking lot by Los Angeles Park Rangers. There was no emergency nor medical need. Park Rangers were contacted and denied the request to unlock the gate due to posted park hours. The person was advised to return at 6:00 a.m. during operating hours to retrieve the vehicle.
