The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of July 14 - 20, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period:
Sunday, July 14

At 11:21 p.m., as part of a mutual aid response with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105 responded to a commercial structure fire. The incident location was in the 100 Block of South Rosemead Blvd. Upon arrival,
there was confirmed smoke coming from the roof of the building. Truck 105 was assigned to roof division and coordinated with the Los Angeles County Fire units to expose the affected areas. The fire was contained to the unit or origin and there were no reported injuries.
Monday, July 15

At 9:36 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a three-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of South Sixth Ave. and East Camino Real Ave. Upon arrival, three vehicles were in the middle of the intersection and there were four patients that needed
a medical assessment. Fire personnel completed a full medical evaluation of the patients, and one patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital by Rescue Ambulance 105. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene.
Tuesday, July 16
At 1:48 p.m., Engine 107, Engine 106, Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105,
and Battalion 105 responded to the 100 block of Don Pablo Dr. due to a gas leak.
Firefighters arrived to find a construction crew excavating with heavy equipment and
ruptured an underground natural gas line. Fire crews arrived and quickly evacuated
adjacent homes in the area and pulled a hose line to protect the area and reduce the
probability of ignition. The Southern California Gas Company responded and clamped the
ruptured gas line. Arcadia residents were able to reoccupy their homes within four hours.
No injuries and no structural damage were reported.
Wednesday, July 17
At 10:04 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Truck 101, Rescue
Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to the 200 block of East Huntington Dr. for
a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived on scene reporting a seven-story structure
with smoke showing from the rear of the occupancy. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose
line and extinguished a small fire in a storage room on the first floor. Two employees were
evaluated by Paramedics and one employee was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital
for further evaluation and care.
Thursday, July 18
At 1:55 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident at
the intersection of Second Ave. and Sandra Ave. Upon arrival, Truck 105 and Rescue
Ambulance 105 found a 45-year-old male with a chief complaint of pain and deformity to
his upper extremities and rib cage from a 10-foot fall while tree trimming. Fire personnel
performed a full medical evaluation, which included a complete set of vital signs,
electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, immobilized the upper extremities
with a vacuum splint, and administered pain medication. Rescue Ambulance 105transported the patient to the nearest trauma center, Huntington Hospital, for further
evaluation.
Friday, July 19
At 4:28 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a motorcyclist down
at the intersection of Santa Anita Ave. and Santa Clara Ave. Upon arrival, Engine 105
and Rescue Ambulance 105 found a 24-year-old male with a complaint of pain to his left
shoulder. Fire personnel performed a full trauma assessment, which included an
electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, administered pain medication, and
obtained a complete set of vital signs. Paramedics determined the patient did meet
trauma criteria and Rescue Ambulance 105 transported him to the Huntington Hospital
for evaluation.
Saturday, July 20
At 3:41 p.m., Engine 107, Truck 101, Engine 41, Battalion 105, and Rescue Ambulance
41 responded to an automatic aid response for a structure fire at the 100 Block of North
Mountain Trail in Sierra Madre. Upon arrival, Engine 107 was assigned to assist with
extinguishment and investigation into the cause of the fire. The fire started in the crawl
space of the structure and spread to the exterior wall of the building. Arcadia Fire
personnel were able to extinguish the fire during its initial phase (incipient stage). The
damage to the structure was limited to the back side of the building, and the fire was
contained to the area of origin.
