Fire Department Weekly Report - week of January 29 – February 4, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 29 – February 4, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, January 29 At 6:32 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a reported animal rescue at The Shops at Santa Anita. Upon arrival, fire personnel were directed by security personnel to an escalator where a dog’s paw was trapped. Fire personnel were able to reverse the escalator and dislodge the trapped paw without incident. The dog’s paw was bandaged, and the owner was advised to seek further care from a veterinarian. Monday, January 30 At 1:09 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of West Palm Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 81-year-old female with an altered level of consciousness. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation and identified the patient was suffering from an overdose. Fire crews identified a second patient and obtained an electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and a blood glucose check. One patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The second patient was transported to Alhambra Hospital Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, January 31 At 4:18 a.m., Engine 106 was clearing a call when the crew members noticed a burning odor in the area. Fire personnel investigated further and located a small fire in a nearby planter. Fire personnel extinguished the fire without extension and requested a police officer to the location as a person was seen leaving the area upon arrival. The officers were given a description of the person of interest. Wednesday, February 1 At 7:07 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel located a 34-year-old female with a chief complaint of ankle pain after falling. The patient was rock climbing and fell approximately eight feet, causing deformity to her ankle. Fire personnel performed a complete trauma assessment and utilized an air splint to stabilize her ankle. Paramedics obtained a complete set of vital signs, electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, and administered pain medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, February 2 At 9:08 p.m., Engine 105 and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to a report of an outside fire in the 5400 block of Peck Road. Upon further investigation, fire crews found cooking materials and trash burning in an open field near an encampment. The fire was extinguished with a hose line and a water extinguisher. Fire personnel utilized hand tools to contain the fire to the area of origin. Friday, February 3 At 12:55 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, there was a 53-year- old male with a complaint of an overdose. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation that included vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, February 4 At 8:41 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 102, and Squad 102 responded to a reported traffic collision on the west bound 210 Freeway near Huntington Drive off ramp. Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle traffic collision with no injuries. Personnel on scene utilized apparatus to create a safe zone to get all involved parties safely off the freeway.
