Fire Department Weekly Report - week of January 1 – 7, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 1 – 7, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, January 1 At 7:29 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of West Longden Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 74-year-old male with stroke symptoms. Fire crews recognized the symptoms immediately and performed a stroke test. The patient received a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, blood glucose reading, and a complete set of vital signs. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, January 2 At 2:40 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 500 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 55-year- old female in her vehicle suffering from a suspected overdose. Arcadia Police Department was already on scene and administered Narcan for the suspected overdose. Fire personnel were able to remove the unconscious patient from the vehicle and perform a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose reading, and establish intravenous access. The patient’s status improved while en route to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, January 3 At 2:24 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of a major flooding in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was major flooding in the parking area of the housing complex. Fire personnel utilized multiple pumps to remove the water from the subterranean parking area. The property owner was advised to call a plumbing company to fix the water pumps and the clogged drains. Wednesday, January 4 At 3:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 1300 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 25-year- old patient complaining of palpitations and dizziness. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure check, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, January 5 At 9:22 a.m., Engine 106 and Engine 105 responded to a report of a major flooding in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was major flooding in the parking area of a housing complex and the garage had about one foot of water, that was rising towards the house. Fire personnel utilized multiple pumps to remove the water from the subterranean parking area and the pump station was also pumped dry. A plumbing company was on scene and repaired the broken pumping station, after fire personnel removed the water.



Friday, January 6 At 11:32 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 400 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 90-year-old female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous access. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, January 7 At 4:10 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 200 block of Colorado Place. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 36-year-old male with a complaint of seizure. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12- lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, blood glucose check, and monitored the patient for further seizure activity. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
