The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of February 25 – March 2, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded
for this time period:
Sunday, February 25
At 11:24 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 81-year-
old female with a complaint of altered mental status. Paramedics performed a series of
tests on the patient and identified the patient was also suffering from sepsis. Fire
personnel obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous
access, and transported the patient to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and
treatment.
Monday, February 26
At 10:54 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a two-
vehicle traffic collision on North Santa Anita Avenue near the 210 Freeway. Upon arrival,
there were two patients that were injured in the traffic collision. One was a 72-year-old
female with head trauma and the other was a 58-year-old male with a complaint of multi-
system trauma. Fire personnel completed a full medical evaluation of the patients and
transported them to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Arcadia
Police Department remained on scene.
Tuesday, February 27
At 3:39 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical
incident in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an 88-year-
old patient with a complaint of weakness and chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full
medical evaluation which included intravenous therapy, blood pressure check, and
electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, February 28
At 6:39 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of an outside encampment fire in the 2000
block of South Eighth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found cooking materials and
trash burning in an open area near an encampment. Fire personnel utilized a hose line
and hand tools to extinguish and contain the fire to the area of origin. People in that area
were advised not to burn materials in public, near combustible brush, private properties,
and under trees.
Thursday, February 29
At 9:40 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 1900 block of
Seventh Avenue for a reported person screaming. Fire personnel arrived to find a 77-
year-old male calling for help after a fall. Fire personnel assisted the patient up and back
into his home. Family members were contacted to ensure the patient’s safety and welfare.
Friday, March 1
At 11:50 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the intersection of
Santa Anita Avenue and Yorkshire Drive for a reported traffic collision. Fire personnel
arrived to find a two-vehicle traffic collision, with one of the involved vehicles carrying pool
chlorine which spilled during the accident. Paramedics evaluated the involved parties and
found no injuries and no chemical exposure issues. Los Angeles County Health Haz Mat
Division arrived to evaluate and mitigate the spill.
Saturday, March 2
At 9:25 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded for a trauma transfer at
USC Arcadia Hospital. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 36-year-old male with multiple
knife stab wounds. Hospital staff were stabilizing the patient who was brought in via aprivate vehicle; however, the patient required further care by a trauma facility. Fire
personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead
electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was
transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
