The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of February 18 – 24, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for
this time period:
Sunday, February 18
At 10:28 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Truck 101, Rescue
Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 100 block of California Street for a
single-story, multi-family residential structure with an active attic fire. Firefighters quickly
stopped the fire progression, and the fire was isolated to the unit of origin. No injuries
occurred during this incident, and the residents were assisted by American Red Cross for
housing needs.
Monday, February 19
At 10:35 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident
in the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 77-year-
old female with a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and
administration of cardiac medications. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia
Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, February 20
At 8:35 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 2000 block of Bella Vista Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 66-year-old male
with a complaint of altered mental status from hypoglycemia. The patient received a 12-
lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous access, and administration of
medications. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation
and treatment.
Wednesday, February 21
At 2:11 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of a child locked inside a vehicle in the 100
block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was a 2-year-old male that was
strapped in a car seat and the mother was standing outside of the vehicle. Fire personnel
utilized a vehicle lockout kit to gain access to the child. There were no injuries associated
with this incident.
Thursday, February 22
At 1:10 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical
incident in the 100 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was a 38-year-old
female with a complaint of cardiac dysrhythmia. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure check, and
electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
evaluation and treatment.Friday, February 23
At 4:41 p.m., Truck 105 responded to the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue for a person
reported to be trapped inside an elevator. Firefighters arrived to find two occupants
trapped inside a stalled elevator car. Firefighters shut off power and utilized specialized
tools to pick the elevator door locks to free the trapped occupants. Both occupants were
uninjured and released on scene.
Saturday, February 24
At 11:11 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 100 block of
East Huntington Drive for a person down. Paramedics arrived to find a 38-year-old male
who was suffering from chest pain. Advanced life support measures were initiated
including 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and blood glucose testing. The
patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
