Fire Department Weekly Report -week of December 4 – 10, 2022

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of December 4 – 10, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, December 4 At 6:36 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a request for a trauma transport of a medical patient from USC Arcadia Hospital. Upon arrival, there was a 79-year-old patient with a complaint of bilateral upper extremity pain after a potential spinal cord injury. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to Huntington Health Trauma Center for further treatment and evaluation. Monday, December 5 At 6:42 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical patient in the 2300 block of South Second Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 78-year-old patient with a complaint of sepsis. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.


Tuesday, December 6

At 5:07 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Engine 102, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Rescue Ambulance 105 were dispatched to a report of a house fire in the 1000 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a single vehicle into a structure with no fire. The driver of the vehicle sustained no traumatic injuries; however, was suffering from a diabetic emergency. Fire crews performed a full evaluation which included cardiac monitoring and intravenous therapy. The driver refused any medical attention and was released to family on scene. The structure sustained minor damage.

Wednesday, December 7 At 6:06 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 900 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 68-year- old patient complaining of weakness and chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. Thursday, December 8 At 9:08 a.m., Engine 107 responded to a report of an outside fire in the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire crews found a mattress that was on fire and burning next to a commercial building. Fire personnel utilized a 1 3⁄4” hose line to extinguish the fire. Fire personnel also used hand tools and foam to ensure that the fire was extinguished and contained to the area of origin. Arcadia Police Department was dispatched to the incident to take a report.

Friday, December 9 At 4:37 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 65- year-old female complaining of shortness of breath. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous therapy, and a breathing treatment. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. Saturday, December 10 At 5:13 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical patient in the 1200 block of Oakglen Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an 83-year-old patient complaining of stroke-like symptoms. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
