Fire Department Weekly Report -week of December 3 – 9, 2023



The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of December 3 – 9, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this

time period:


Sunday, December 3

At 1:10 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in

the 100 block of El Dorado Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 87-year-old

female exhibiting stroke symptoms. Paramedics performed a series of stroke tests and

confirmed the patient was experiencing a stroke. Fire personnel obtained a 12-lead

electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous access, and transported the patient

to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Monday, December 4

At 10:50 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in

the 400 block of Patricia Way. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 81-year-old male with

a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which

included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and administration of aspirin

and nitroglycerin. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for

further evaluation and treatment.


Tuesday, December 5

At 3:22 a.m., Engine 107 responded to a report of a dumpster fire in the 100 block of East

Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a refuse fire that was next to a 3-

yard dumpster. Fire personnel utilized a booster hose line, foam, and a rubbish hook to

extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to the area of origin and its cause was

undetermined.


Wednesday, December 6

At 4:40 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident at

the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found a 63-year-old female with a complaint of feeling weak, nausea, and

vertigo. The patient received a full medical evaluation that included a 12-lead

electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia

Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Thursday, December 7

At 7:25 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle

versus pedestrian incident at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Cyrus Lane. Upon

arrival, fire personnel found a 37-year-old female suffering from extremity pain and multi-

system trauma, after contact with the vehicle. The patient received a full medical and

trauma evaluation that included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy.

The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Friday, December 8

At 9:17 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106

responded to a reported traffic collision in the 200 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, firepersonnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision involving three patients, with one vehicle striking a block wall and shearing off a concrete light standard.

Paramedics initiated patient care on one patient while the other two patients refused medical care. The injured patient was experiencing elbow and back pain

and received a full medical assessment. The patient

was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further

evaluation and treatment. Southern California Edison

arrived on scene to secure the downed power line.


Saturday, December 9

At 6:04 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a traffic

collision at the intersection of South Second Avenue and Alta Street. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision involving two patients. Paramedics

performed a full medical assessment on both drivers. One patient, a 77-year-old female,

complained of chest pain from the accident. Fire personnel obtained a full set of vital

signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and the patient was transported to USC Arcadia

Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The other driver refused further treatment.
