The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of December 25 – 31, 2022. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, December 25 At 4:40 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of a refuge fire in the 700 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found a trash bin that was on fire. The fire was located behind a residential area, but no flames were threatening the structure. Fire personnel utilized a booster hose line to extinguish the fire. Hand tools and foam were also used to ensure that the fire was extinguished and contained to the area of origin. Monday, December 26 At 3:18 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 25-year-old female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, December 27 At 1:11 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 2000 block of Louise Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 69-year-old female with a complaint of altered mental status. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, December 28 At 1:39 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of a hazardous condition at the intersection of North Second Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a motorhome with a small fire in the battery compartment. A deep cycle battery was incorrectly wired, and it caused a small fire with battery acid leaking onto the ground. Fire personnel utilized a hose line to extinguish the fire and the runoff was prevented from going into the storm drains. Arcadia Public Works Department responded to the incident for the cleanup of the leak. Thursday, December 29 At 11:51 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 54-year- old female complaining of weakness and dizziness. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access with fluids and a 12-lead electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, December 30 At 5:14 p.m., Engine 106 was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 300 block of South Third Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a fully involved vehicle that was next to the curb. Fire personnel began fire attack operations with a 1.75" hose line. All the passengers were out of the vehicle and there were no reported injuries. The fire was extinguished, and Arcadia Police Department remained on scene with the driver.

Saturday, December 31 At 9:43 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of a hazardous condition in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a multi-unit residential complex with a flooded parking area with approximately eight to 14 inches of standing water. Fire personnel utilized a trash pump to remove the standing water from the parking area. The property manager was contacted for further assistance with restoring the sump pump which had malfunctioned with the steady rainfall.
