Fire Department Weekly Report - week of April 23 – 29, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 23 – 29, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, April 23 At 9:21 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the first block of Colorado Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 5-year-old female who was suffering from difficulty breathing. The patient received advanced life support including albuterol treatment with oxygen, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access with glucose test. The patient was transported to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, April 24 At 9:07 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 1000 block of Oaklawn Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 86-year-old female with a complaint of altered mental status. The patient received a series of stroke tests, a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation treatment. Tuesday, April 25 At 11:34 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of Sunset Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 68-year-old male who was suffering from hypoglycemia. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, April 26 At 10:40 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 84-year-old male who was suffering from general weakness with local neuro deficit. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, April 27 At 4:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 1400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 31-year-old male with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and blood glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, April 28

At 5:59 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue

Ambulance 105 responded to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision with a flowing hydrant and located one patient requiring medical care. Fire personnel transported one trauma patient to Huntington Health for further evaluation and treatment. The Public Works Department was requested to assess the potential damage to the water system and to restore the hydrant. Arcadia Police Department was on scene to assist with traffic control and the removal of the disabled vehicles from the roadway.


Saturday, April 29 At 7:49 p.m., Engine 107, Engine 106, Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 800 block of Royal Oaks Avenue to assist Monrovia Fire Department with a large commercial structure fire involving hazardous materials. Arcadia units assisted with all firefighting operations and decontamination needs. The incident was stabilized utilizing many agencies to maintain environmental protection.
