Fire Department Weekly Report - week of April 16 – 22, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of April 16 – 22, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this

time period:

Sunday, April 16

At 12:28 p.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105

responded to a report of a traffic collision at the intersection of First Avenue and Magna

Vista Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision with one

vehicle overturned with the driver still inside. Fire personnel extricated the driver and

initiated patient care. Paramedics performed a full trauma assessment on the driver of

the vehicle with a chief complaint of neck pain and determined the patient did not meet

trauma criteria. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further

evaluation and treatment. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene for traffic control

until the tow truck could remove the vehicle from the roadway.

Monday, April 17

At 1:54 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in

the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 66-year-old

female who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life

support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was

transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, April 18

At 7:32 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in

the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 70-year-old

female with a chief complaint of a chest pain. Fire crews performed a full medical

evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and

administration of cardiac medications. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia

Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, April 19

At 10:48 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in

the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 82-year-old

male who was suffering from body pain. The patient received advanced life support

including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient

was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, April 20

At 8:19 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in

the 900 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews evaluated a 26-year-old

female who was postictal after having a seizure. The patient received advanced life

support including cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient

was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Friday, April 21

At 11:18 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident

in the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 86-year-old

female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire crews performed a full medical

evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous access. The

patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, April 22

At 1:21 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported traffic

collision in the area of Orange Grove Avenue and Rodeo Road. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found a single-vehicle traffic collision with a sheared electrical pole and a

flowing hydrant. The patient was uninjured and fire personnel coordinated with Southern

California Edison to isolate the affected electrical lines prior to shutting down the flow of

water. The Public Works Department was requested to assess the potential damage to

the water system and to restore the hydrant. Arcadia Police Department remained on

scene to assist with traffic control and establishing a safe area around the impacted

electrical pole.
