The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of April 14 – 20, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this

time period:

Sunday, April 14

At 7:43 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 2000 block of Warren Way. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 74-year-old female exhibiting stroke symptoms. Paramedics confirmed the patient was experiencing a stroke, and obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous access, and transported the patient to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, April 15

At 5:51 a.m., Engine 105 was dispatched to a vehicle fire on the east bound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a fully involved vehicle on the shoulder of the freeway and began fire attack operations with a 1.5" transverse hose line. During fire attack operations, additional six vehicles were involved in a traffic collision. Additional resources responded to the incident and a total of seven people received medical evaluations. The fire was extinguished, and California Highway Patrol remained on scene with the drivers.

Tuesday, April 16

At 2:54 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 28-year-old male with a complaint of multiple stab wounds. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation that included vitals, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, April 17

At 8:05 p.m., Engine 106 was dispatched to an outdoor fire in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire personnel arrived to find several small fires, and they were quickly extinguished. No fire extension and no property damage occurred. The incident remains under investigation.

Thursday, April 18

At 2:50 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the 300 block of West Palm Drive for a reported person down. Fire personnel arrived to find an 87-year-old female with no medical complaint; her only request was to help her to her feet. The woman was escorted to her home safely.

Friday, April 19

At 12:59 a.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Rescue Ambulance 106

responded to a report of a traffic collision with an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel located a vehicle traffic collision, but no vehicle was overturned. Paramedics performed a full trauma assessment on the 29-year-old female driver of the vehicle and determined the patient met traumacriteria and transported her to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Arcadia Police Department officers remained on scene for traffic control.

Saturday, April 20

At 1:08 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 41 responded to a medical incident in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 63-year-old female with a complaint of altered mental status from hypoglycemia. Paramedics obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, established intravenous access, and administered dextrose intravenously. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
