Fire Department Weekly Report - June 4 – 10, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 4 – 10, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, June 4 At 11:18 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 300 block of Longden Avenue for a reported traffic collision. Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle traffic collision involving four patients. An additional unit was required to expedite patient triage and treatment. All patients were transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, June 5 At 7:48 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of East Colorado Boulevard for a reported person hit by a vehicle. Firefighters arrived to find a 75-year-old female that was hit by a passing vehicle. Paramedics treated the patient and advanced life support protocols were followed. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, June 6 At 5:11 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 67-year- old male who was suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, June 7 At 3:37 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of Grandview Avenue in Sierra Madre. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 62-year-old female who was suffering from general pain after a mechanical fall. The patient received advanced life support including cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, June 8 At 11:28 p.m., Engine 107, Engine 37, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a traffic collision on the eastbound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single vehicle into a traffic barrier with two patients inside. Paramedics performed a full trauma assessment, obtained base line vital signs, and an electrocardiogram. One patient suffered an open wrist fracture which was immobilized with an air splint. Both patients were transported to Huntington Health for further evaluation and treatment.



Friday, June 9 At 7:48 a.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of victims trapped inside an elevator in the 400 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a stalled elevator car with five occupants inside. Fire personnel gained access to the elevator control room where the elevator car was reset electronically. Once the elevator reset, fire personnel were able to extricate the occupants from the elevator without injury. All occupants denied medical assistance and were released on scene. The elevator car was placed out-of- service and the property management company was contacted for repair. Saturday, June 10 At 4:15 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 100 block of North First Avenue for a reported outdoor fire. Fire crews arrived to find a small fire in a parking structure. The fire was quickly extinguished, and a suspect was held for questioning. An arson investigator was assigned to the incident to determine the cause and origin of the fire and to interview the suspect.
