Fire Department Weekly Report - January 7 – 13, 2024

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 7 – 13, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:


Sunday, January 7

At 11:11a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 500 block of Los

Altos Avenue for a person down. Fire personnel arrived to find a 22-year-old female that

was weak and dizzy. Advanced life support measures were initiated including 12-lead

electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and blood glucose testing. The patient was

transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Monday, January 8

At 9:46 p.m., Engine 107 responded to a reported house fire in the 4000 block of Park

Vista Drive in Pasadena. Upon arrival, smoke was coming out from the chimney area of

a 2-story residential structure. Fire personnel found a fire inside the wall near the chimney

and checked for fire extension into the second floor. Engine 107 was assigned to Salvage

Group to protect personal belongings and suppression activities. Fire personnel

contained the fire and confirmed there was no fire extension to the second floor. The

cause of the fire is currently under investigation.


Tuesday, January 9

At 10:21 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in

the 1000 block of South First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 82-year-old

female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire personnel performed a full medical

evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and blood

glucose check. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation

and treatment.


Wednesday, January 10

At 6:36 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 101, Engine 41, Battalion 105, and Rescue Ambulance

41 responded to an automatic aid response for a structure fire in the 100 block of North

Mountain Trail in Sierra Madre. Upon arrival, Engine 107 was assigned to assist with fire

extinguishment and investigate the cause. The fire started in the crawl space of the

structure and spread to the exterior wall of the building. Fire personnel were able to

extinguish the fire during the incipient phase which resulted in minimizing damage. A fire

investigator was dispatched to determine the cause of the fire.


Thursday, January 11

At 1:06 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical

incident in the 1100 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, there was a 73-year-

old patient that was choking on his food. Fire personnel ensured that the patient’s airway

was clear, and the patient received a full medical evaluation that included a 12-lead

electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia

Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Friday, January 12

At 10:34 a.m., Truck 105 responded to the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard for a

reported person trapped in an elevator. Firefighters powered off and lowered the elevator

car, and the passenger exited safely.


Saturday, January 13

At 7:57 a.m., Engine 106, Engine 105, Engine 37, Truck 105, Truck 32, Rescue

Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to the 700 block of Golden West Avenue

for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle fire inside of a garage

that had been extinguished by the resident.
