Fire Department Weekly Report -January 15 – 21, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 15 – 21, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, January 15 At 11:01 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was an 81-year-old male complaining of weakness and dizziness. The patient received an intravenous therapy, 12- lead electrocardiogram, and a full set of vitals were taken. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, January 16 At 11:36 a.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to a three-vehicle traffic collision with one vehicle overturned in the 1200 block of Baldwin Avenue. One patient self-extricated from his vehicle and denied any treatment and transport. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene with the drivers of the vehicles.


Tuesday, January 17 At 12:36 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 1900 block of Seventh Place for a person down. Firefighters arrived to find an elderly male on the floor and unable to get up. The patient had no medical complaint and was assisted safely into bed. Wednesday, January 18 At 7:45 a.m., Engine 105 and Truck 105 responded to a reported electrical fire in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive in Monrovia. Fire crews arrived to find light smoke on the second floor of the residential structure and initiated an offensive fire attack. Fire crews disconnected the electrical power which quickly resolved the situation. Arcadia units were quickly released from the incident. Thursday, January 19 At 12:38 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of East Colorado Place. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an 18-month- old male with febrile seizure. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included an electrocardiogram, intravenous access, blood glucose check, and monitored the patient for further seizure activity. The patient was transported to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, January 20 At 11:18 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 71-year- old female with an altered level of consciousness and dyspnea. Paramedics quickly assessed the patient and recognized the need for assisted ventilations via a bag valve mask (BVM). The patient received a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intraosseous access, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, January 21 At 10:25 p.m., Recue Ambulance 106, along with units from Monterey Park, Alhambra, San Gabriel, San Marino, Los Angeles City, and Los Angeles County Fire Departments responded to a report of a multiple-casualty incident in the 100 block of Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park. There were multiple victims on scene, and a 73-year-old female with gunshot wounds was transported to Los Angeles County USC Trauma Center. En route, the patient received a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure check, electrocardiogram, and wound control.
