
The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of January 12 – 18, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period

Sunday, January 12
At 3:37 p.m., Engine 106 and units from Pasadena Fire Department responded to a report
of a structure fire in the 3000 block of Lombardy Road in Pasadena. Upon arrival, fire
suppression personnel discovered a single-family, bungalow-style structure with a fire in
the attic. Engine 106 was tasked with establishing a water supply and assisted with the
fire attack. Fire was contained to the area of origin, and a Pasadena Fire Investigator was
assigned to investigate.
Monday, January 13
At 8:00 a.m., Engine 106 was deployed as part of an Office of Emergency Services (OES)
prepositioned task force. The task force consisted of Engine 106, Monrovia Engine 101,
Burbank Engine 11, a Los Angeles City strike team leader, and was strategically placed
in Los Angeles during the anticipated Santa Ana wind event for any potential resource
needs. During their deployment, the winds did not materialize, and the task force
demobilized without incident.
Tuesday, January 14
At 5:50 p.m., Engine 705 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found an 86-
year-old female exhibiting stroke symptoms. Paramedics performed a series of stroke
tests on the patient and identified the patient was experiencing a stroke. The patient
received a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), blood glucose check, intravenous access,
and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Wednesday, January 15
At 3:59 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a vehicle
versus pedestrian incident in the 200 block of East Sycamore Avenue. Upon arrival, fire
suppression personnel found an 11-year-old female with traumatic injuries after being
struck by a vehicle travelling about 10-15 miles per hour. The patient received a full
trauma assessment which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous access, and was
transported to Los Angeles General Medical Center for further treatment.
Thursday, January 16
At 4:24 p.m., Engine 107 responded to a report of an outside fire in the 1600 block of
Oakhaven Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found pool equipment that had
malfunctioned and caused the fire. The fire was extinguished by using a small-diameter
hose and was contained to the area of origin. The electrical supply to the equipment was
shut off, and the resident was advised to contact an electrician.
Friday, January 17
At 3:47 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a multi-
vehicle collision at the intersection of Arcadia Avenue and South Baldwin Avenue. One
patient, an 82-year-old female, reported multi-system trauma and was transported to USC
Arcadia Hospital for further treatment. The other patients received full medical evaluations
but refused further care. The patients remained on scene with Arcadia Police Department.
Saturday, January 18
At 1:10 p.m., Urban Search and Rescue 106, Battalion 105, and units from Sierra Madre
Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had collided with a structure on
Baldwin Avenue in Sierra Madre. Upon arrival, there was one patient with multi-system
trauma and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment. Fire
suppression personnel stabilized the structure by using shoring equipment. Once the
structure was secured, a heavy lifter was utilized to lift the vehicle and place it onto aflatbed. A Sierra Madre Building Inspector red-tagged the building, and Sierra Madre
Police Department remained on scene.

wildfires by providing our department meals, fruits, pastries, drawings, and more! Thank
you all so much for recognizing and appreciating our firefighters’ hard work, and for the
time and effort you’ve put into preparing the foods, drawings, and bringing them to us!
