Fire Department Weekly Report - February 26 – March 4, 2023


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of February 26 – March 4, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:



Sunday, February 26 At 2:23 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the westbound 210 Freeway at the Baldwin Avenue off ramp. Upon arrival, fire personnel located a smoking vehicle on the shoulder of the freeway. The smoke was coming from the vehicle’s engine compartment and the passengers were standing on the shoulder of the freeway. Fire personnel extinguished the fire and contained the fire to the area of origin. There were no reported injuries and California Highway Patrol remained on scene. Monday, February 27 At 1:11 p.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, and units from Monrovia Fire Department responded to a report of smoke inside of a structure in the 500 block of South Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia. Upon arrival, there was a commercial structure with smoke coming from the second floor. Fire personnel utilized a thermal-imagining camera to clear the second floor. There were no signs of fire inside of the structure. Tuesday, February 28 At 1:33 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 600 block of North Second Avenue and found a 24-year-old male that experienced a finger laceration while visiting a park. Fire personnel treated and bandaged the laceration, and the patient was released on scene with no additional injuries. Wednesday, March 1 At 8:29 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 100 block of Third Avenue for a reported vegetation fire. Fire crews arrived to find a small vegetation fire that was quickly extinguished with a single hose line. Investigation of this incident revealed human activity was the cause of ignition for this fire. No persons were injured, and no property damage occurred. This incident remains under investigation. Thursday, March 2 At 4:10 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of San Miguel Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 86-year-old male with a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire crews performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and administration of aspirin and nitroglycerin. Upon the 12-lead electrocardiogram determination by paramedics, the patient required additional medical attention. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Friday, March 3 At 1:48 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Las Flores Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 26-year-old male with a chief complaint of multiple abrasions on his upper and lower extremities after losing control of his motorcycle. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and head-to-toe secondary assessment. Due to the mechanism of injury, the patient was transported to Huntington Health for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, March 4 At 12:15 a.m., Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and units from Monrovia Fire Department responded to a report of a three-vehicle traffic collision in the 3000 block of Peck Road. Upon arrival, there was one vehicle that collided with two vehicles and then ran into a pole. There were five patients with one needing to be

extricated. Fire personnel completed a full medical evaluation of the patients. After proper evaluation, two patients were transported to Huntington Health.
