Fire Department Weekly Report during the week of January 8 – 14, 2023

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 8 – 14, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, January 8 At 1:53 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 1900 block of Alta Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews found 66-year-old male exhibiting stroke symptoms. The patient received a series of stroke tests, a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous access, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. Monday, January 9 At 3:17 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident at the intersection of Lovell Avenue and Naomi Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 72-year- old female complaining of weakness and dizziness after a minor fall. The patient received intravenous therapy, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and a full set of vitals were taken. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.


Tuesday, January 10

At 2:17 p.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to a report of a vehicle collision and a vehicle into a structure in the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one vehicle that had crashed into the wall of a business and then backed up into another vehicle. No persons were injured. Fire personnel removed the broken glass around the structure and assessed for structural damage of the building. A City structural engineer was requested, and Arcadia Police Department provided scene safety.


Wednesday, January 11 At 7:15 a.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of two persons trapped in an elevator in the 200 block of Huntington Drive. Firefighters arrived to find two occupants trapped on the seventh floor. Firefighters utilized non-destructive, forcible entry tools to quickly gain access and both occupants were safely removed from the elevator without incident. Thursday, January 12 At 6:19 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a reported residential structure fire with Monrovia Fire Department units in the 700 block of Lime Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find the odor of burning electrical without damage, and Arcadia units were released.

Friday, January 13 At 4:53 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105

responded to a report of a traffic collision at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Rancho Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision. One patient complained of chest and left knee pain from the accident. Paramedics performed a full medical assessment on both drivers. One patient received a 12-lead electrocardiogram and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. The other patient refused further treatment. Arcadia Police Department provided traffic control and assisted with removal of the vehicles from the roadway.

Saturday, January 14 At 2:43 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found 51-year-old male exhibiting stroke symptoms. The patient received a series of stroke tests, a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, intravenous access, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
