Fire Department Weekly Report - April 7 – 13, 2024.

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week

of April 7 – 13, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time

period:

Sunday, April 7

At 9:18 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 102, Truck 101, Truck 105, Rescue

Ambulance 41, and Battalion 105 responded to a reported structure fire in the 00 block of

Genoa Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single-story, 4-unit apartment building

with no signs of fire or smoke but with an audible alarm and an odor of smoke from Unit

B. Fire personnel pulled a hose line inside to extinguish the fire and, in the process,

located a deceased person inside the bathroom. There was no fire extension into the attic

or adjacent apartment units. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Monday, April 8

At 8:52 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a vehicle

versus pedestrian incident in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found a 22-year-old female who was hanging onto a moving vehicle with a

complaint of head trauma, rib pain, and multiple abrasions to her back and extremities.

The patient received a full trauma assessment, which included an electrocardiogram and

intravenous access. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. Paramedics determined the

patient met trauma criteria and the patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for

further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, April 9


At 8:18 p.m., Rescue Ambulance 106, Engine 105, and units from Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision in the 100

block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one vehicle that collided with a tree, and two patients with a complaint of multi-system trauma. Both

patients received a full medical evaluation. One patient was transported to a nearby hospital and the other patient refused further care.


Wednesday, April 10

At 3:09 p.m., Engine 106 was

dispatched to a vehicle fire at the

cross streets of Park Avenue and

Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire

personnel found one vehicle fully

involved with fire in the engine

compartment and into the lithium-

ion battery pack. Fire personnel

began fire attack operations with a

1.5" transverse hose line. The fire was contained to the vehicle’s area of origin. Arcadia Police Department was on scene to assist with traffic control. There were no injuries to report on this incident.

Thursday, April 11

At 6:01 p.m., Engine 105 was dispatched to an outdoor fire in the 200 block of First

Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a large cardboard box with its contents burning.

The fire was quickly extinguished, no property damage occurred, and remains under

investigation.Friday, April 12

At 12:45 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue for a

reported vehicle fire. Fire personnel arrived to find heavy smoke due to an engine

compartment fire. This fire was quickly extinguished with multiple fire extinguishers. No

injuries occurred and property damage was limited to the involved vehicle.

Saturday, April 13

At 7:12 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a hazardous condition reported in the 2400 block

of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a tree that had fallen and taken

down powerlines in the area. Fire personnel created an exclusion zone to ensure public

safety. Southern California Edison responded to remove the energized powerlines. No

injuries and no property damage occurred.
