Fire Department Weekly Report -April 28 – May 4, 2024

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 28 – May 4, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:






Sunday, April 28

At 6:17 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of an assault

in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one male patient standing

next to the tracks of the Metro station with a complaint of multi-system trauma from an

assault. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included blood pressure

check and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for

further evaluation and treatment.


Monday, April 29

At 1:29 p.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, and Battalion 105 were dispatched to a reported

electrical fire in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find an

electrical fire and malfunction of an electrical heating unit due to a liquid being poured into

the heating elements. Power was disconnected and the on-site manager was notified. No

structural damage or injuries occurred from the incident.


Tuesday, April 30

At 3:15 p.m., Engine 105 responded to the 300 block of Woodruff Avenue for a reported

fire alarm. Fire personnel arrived and found food burning on the stove. Truck 105 was

called to assist with positive pressure ventilation to remove the smoke from the home. No

property damage occurred, and the resident was notified.


Wednesday, May 1

At 10:33 a.m., Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and BLS 106 responded to a report

of a vehicle versus pedestrian incident in the 12000 block of Lower Azusa Road. Upon

arrival, fire personnel found the driver of the vehicle uninjured and a 44-year-old female

with a complaint of a hematoma to the occipital region of her head. Fire personnel

conducted a full trauma assessment which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and

established intravenous access. Paramedics determined the patient met trauma criteria

and transported the patient to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Thursday, May 2

At 11:59 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and BLS 106 responded to a medical

incident in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an

86-year-old male with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire personnel performed a full

medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and established

intravenous access. The patient was found to be hypotensive from a recent dialysis

procedure and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and

treatment.


Friday, May 3

At 8:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a two-

vehicle traffic collision in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, there was one

patient with a complaint of multi-system trauma. Fire personnel completed a full medical

evaluation, and the patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation

and treatment.


Saturday, May 4

At 5:55 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in

the 600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 31-year-old

male with agonal respirations and an altered level of consciousness. Fire personnel

performed a full medical evaluation and identified the patient was suffering from an

overdose. Paramedics quickly administered Narcan on the patient to reverse the effects

of the overdose and obtained an electrocardiogram, established intravenous access,assisted breathing using bag-valve-mask ventilations, and checked the blood glucose

level. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and

treatment.
