Fire Department Weekly Report

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 18 – 24, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, June 18 At 12:05 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Second Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 57-year- old female who was suffering from a four-inch laceration to the head after a trip and fall. The patient received advanced life support including bandage for bleeding control, 12- lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Monday, June 19 At 9:30 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of Las Tunas Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 53-year-old female who was suffering from an altered level of consciousness after having a seizure. The patient received advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Tuesday, June 20 At 3:48 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 107, and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a traffic collision on the east bound 210 Freeway at Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision. One patient complained of head, neck, back, and chest pain from the accident. Fire personnel obtained a full set of vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and the patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The other driver refused further treatment and transport. Wednesday, June 21 At 12:40 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of a transformer fire in the 800 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two small grass fires caused by arcing overhead power lines. Fire personnel deployed a one-inch booster line to extinguish the small grass fires and stopped further spreading of the fire. Southern California Edison (SCE) was contacted to repair the damaged power lines. Fire personnel established a safe area around the arcing power lines and remained on scene until SCE arrived.


Thursday, June 22

At 10:58 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the west bound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue for a reported traffic collision. Fire crews arrived to find a solo vehicle traffic collision with one 33- year-old female with facial trauma. Paramedics initiated advanced life support protocols for this patient and transported her to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, June 23 At 11:24 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue for a reported traffic collision. Fire crews arrived to find a four-vehicle traffic collision with multiple occupants, all involved presenting with no injuries. One of the occupants was a 1-year-old male. Due to his young age and the excessive vehicle damage, his parents requested that he be transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation. Saturday, June 24 At 2:41 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a reported vegetation fire. Firefighters arrived to find a small vegetation fire in a high traffic area. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the area of origin. The fire is suspicious in nature and remains under investigation.
